As the creator of Joe Hamer Academy, which was established in San Francisco in 1995, Joe Hamer is one of the industry’s most highly-respected educators. He is a licensed cosmetologist and barber, California instructor, Certified Master Colorist, Haircutter, Celebrity Stylist, and the owner of several successful salons. Joe’s work at trade shows across the country has also made him a sought-after and recognized platform artist.

 

A proprietary system called Trends Collection is the foundation of Joe’s uniquely successful approach to client fulfillment. At the onset of each season, Joe creates cut and color combinations that mirror broader trends in fashion design and other creative fields. This skillful alignment of multiple disciplines is reminiscent of runway modeling, yet it is more substantive, sensible and driven by the needs of clients.

 

Helping to abolish the old adage “those who can’t do, teach,” Joe has been developing and leading classes and seminars for the past 10 years in both platform and private academy setting, all while directing two salons in two counties and maintaining a long list of loyal, highly satisfied clients, many of whom waited for months to get their first appointment.

 

After 30 dynamic years in the industry, Joe’s priorities are clear. “My one true goal is to see every stylist I have ever trained exceed my accomplishment in leaps and bounds,” says Joe. “That will only happen by consistently giving back—giving time, sharing the intricacies of the cutting, coloring and business systems I have developed, and ultimately providing my own academy to up and coming stylists.”
